Nick Elleray

Coaching & Co-Writing

I'm Nick Elleray — stand-up comic, comedy writer, and teacher. I work one-to-one with comedians at all levels: people who've never done a gig and want to start, acts who've been at it a while and feel stuck, and writers who want a sharp collaborator in their corner.

What I can help you with

Finding your voice. The hardest part of stand-up isn't performing — it's working out what you actually want to say and how to say it in a way that's distinctly yours. That's where we start.

Writing stronger material. I'll work through your existing jokes and ideas with you, help you find what's funny in them and cut what isn't. I'm particularly good at joke structure — finding the twist you didn't know was there.

Preparing for a gig. Whether it's your first open mic or a big show, I can help you build a set that works, practise it until it's solid, and walk on stage feeling ready.

Co-writing. If you're developing a show, a script, or a set and want a writing partner who'll push your ideas further, I'm available for ongoing collaboration.

How it works

Sessions are one-to-one, tailored entirely to where you are and what you need. We can meet in person in London or online — whatever works for you.

Get in touch to have an initial conversation about what you're working on. No hard sell, just a chat.

"He helped me with writing, mic work, stage presence, and was super supportive and funny throughout. Nick knew exactly how to punch up my jokes to make them shine — working with him I put together a really nice 5-minute set. Nick pushed me to reach out to a bunch of gigs and now I have 15 gigs lined up for the next month."

"Nick is a lovely guy, very friendly and really helps to nurture a great environment. He has a real knack at understanding joke structure and offering incredibly helpful feedback on how to make your own writing stronger and funnier."

"Incredibly knowledgeable, personable and of course funny. His feedback was incredibly useful and constructive, and his teaching technique inclusive and practical."

"Nick was a great teacher — it's obvious he's technically brilliant in all things comedy and gives off a really good, calm energy. He's honest, direct but always kind about it, which is what you need if you're trying to learn comedy."
